A (Croc) Confession

I can’t believe I’m about to go public with this information.

I have something I feel like I must share with you guys though. A confession of sorts.

This weekend, I bought a pair of Crocs.

Actually, Dave bought them for me. So if we want to point fingers let’s all look to my darling husband.

If you know me, you know I don’t judge a lot of things. I’m pretty loving and accepting. Except when the issue at hand is Crocs. I’ve always judged Crocs. I’ve heard they are incredibly comfortable, but I swore I would never become immune to their ugliness.

For years I’ve stood strong. But, now that we live in NYC, we walk almost everywhere. We walk for at least 2 hours just with Ob and Marley each day and my Nikes were worn slap out. Dave kept commenting on how he was worried about my back and knees walking with the extra baby weight in such worn out shoes. Not to mention, I couldn’t put on my Nikes without his help.

So, he convinced me to walk into the Crocs store last weekend. I fought it. Hard. I told him I was not a hypocrite and I couldn’t own a pair of Crocs on principle. But, alas his cute face and eagerness to make my life better softened my heart…so I acquiesced and tried on a pair of Croc tennis shoes to humor him.

They were just as comfortable as everyone made them out to be. So we left with a pair and I’ve been rocking them ever since. At first I wore a ball cap, oversized sunglasses and hung my head in shame, but not anymore. I’ve turned a new leaf. Now I want to tell everyone how comfy they are. My shins and feet don’t hurt at the end of the day. I enjoy our walks 10xs more!

And I can put them on all by myself thanks to the added width + my Lock Laces.

If you’re pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, I can’t recommend Lock Laces enough! They come in tons of colors, so you can pick the color that matches your shoes. You don’t realize it until your 8 months pregnant, but tying your shoes is pretty much impossible with a baby bump.

So, the moral of this story is don’t ever judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes…because their shoes might be Crocs and they might be the most comfortable things you’ve ever slipped your foot into.

Dave also surprised me with another pair of shoes over the weekend (yes, he is a keeper).

As comfy as the Crocs are, I’m way more excited about these bad boys! They are Mizunos – my running shoe of choice! I won’t be able to wear them right now since I’m still pregnant and I still can’t run, but they will hopefully be put to good use in about 2 months! I cannot wait for the day I get to test these shoes out!

I may have pulled them out of the box twice this week just to smell them. Is that weird? Of course it is.

And on that note, I’m off to cuddle up with Dave and the dogs. I think Marley feels smothered by the girls in this family.

Or maybe that face is because he now has to walk around NYC with a human who sports Crocs.

What is a product you recently bought that you weren’t expecting to love, but did?

What are you doing for Labor Day?
