Being Healthy is More than Being Fit: Juice Plus+

I’m coming at you guys with a post I’ve been crazy excited to share for a while now. This post is incredibly important to me because a lot of research, heart, passion and prayer is fueling it.

Today I want to talk to you guys about fruits and vegetables!

Wait…come back! I promise this will be worth the read.  Okay, so vegetables may not sound exciting but if you leave a grape out long enough it turns to wine and we can all get excited about a fruit that has those kinds of magical powers, right?

I’ve mentioned in a few posts that I’ve partnered with a company that is passionate about getting more fruits and vegetables into people’s diets. That company is Juice Plus+ and I’m so proud, excited and honored to be a part of their team.

Juice PlusI blogged about Juice Plus+ over a year ago when I first began taking it. At the time, I chalked it up to being a cool supplement. However, after conducting some deeper research and reaching out to a doctor and a nutritionist during my pregnancy, my entire perception of the product changed. Juice Plus+ isn’t a vitamin. It isn’t a diet pill. It isn’t medicine. It is simply whole food nutrition. There’s nothing complicated about it. It is organic fruits, vegetables and grains put into capsules (or gummies).

If you’re taking the Orchard and Garden blend, you can rest easy knowing you’re getting nutrients straight from the following foods into your diet…

• Apple • Orange • Pineapple • Cranberry • Peach • Acerola Cherry • Papaya • Carrot • Parsley • Beet • Kale • Broccoli • Cabbage • Spinach • Tomato • Oat Bran • Brown Rice Bran

And if that’s not enough for you, you can add the Vineyard Blend to get the following berries into your diet each day…

• Concord Grape • Blueberry • Cranberry • Blackberry • Bilberry • Raspberry • Red Currant • Black Currant • Elderberry

So everyday, no matter what I eat I’m getting nutrients from all the above fruits/veggies when I take my Juice Plus+. Of course there is no substitute for eating fruits and vegetables but taking Juice Plus capsules does help bridge the gap between what we should eat and what we actually eat.

Very few of us consume an adequate serving of fruits/veggies every day. When we do put vegetables on our plate, we usually cook them to death, draining them of their nutrients. I eat a ton of spinach, broccoli, peppers, squash and zucchini but I cook them all in butter and I don’t consider them edible until they are wilted. Of course, it is better for my body than french fries but I’ve robbed myself of so many vitamins when I sauté my peppers in an Asian salad dressing for 20 minutes (←so good btw, you should definitely try it). Furthermore, how many of us truly eat a well rounded serving of fruits and vegetables each week? I reach for the same things at the grocery store – I shop on autopilot these days. Bananas, apples, strawberries and blueberries. Today I grabbed peaches just to be adventurous. If I get a real wild hair, I’ll grab a plum. But an elderberry? Or a papaya? That’s just crazy talk. I would have to google what those look like and how to eat them and ain’t nobody got time for all that. Juice Plus+ helps add the nutrients of those fruits/veggies I would never eat back into my diet. So cool, right?

Since taking Juice Plus+ I’ve noticed a difference in my skin (fewer breakouts), my digestive system (do I need to get specific?) and my husband. Dave isn’t a veggie lover, but since taking Juice Plus+ I’ve noticed him reaching for more vegetables at dinner. He will actually eat a salad loaded with fruit. He doesn’t turn his nose up to all things green (except brussels sprouts – he still won’t touch those). Dare I even say…he craves vegetables sometimes. Okay, so that may be a stretch, but I have seen a difference in foods he’s willing to try since he’s been on JP. Tonight we had veggie burgers topped with avocados served with a side of zucchini, squash and strawberries. If I served that to Dave a year ago, he would have ordered a pizza. Tonight he wolfed it down.

Before you close out of this window, I want to share one more thing…a message that has been on my heart for a while. Each day when I check into all the various forms of social media I am inundated with posts/pictures/status updates/ads/etc of people talking about fitness. A big part of this is due to the circles I run in (←pun ♥). I love reading about people’s fitness journey. I find most of it inspiring and commendable. However, a good chunk of what I read makes me cringe. Obviously, I love sharing workouts and talking about running. They are some of my favorite parts of life. However, fitness is just 1 part of living a healthy life for me. Fitness isn’t my life. My run this morning didn’t make me healthy. When I see people documenting every single workout (typically with that infamous post workout selfie – classic) and talking about how they only consumed ‘x’ amount of calories and they use some hashtag about getting healthy I literally cringe because that isn’t healthy. Sure, it may be a great way to lose weight and if that’s your only goal then rock on. But it isn’t healthy to be so consumed with the way you look. It isn’t healthy to be consumed with a number on the scale. It isn’t healthy to be obsessed over being a size 2. And I hate to break it to you, but just because your meals are ‘portion controlled’ doesn’t mean you’re eating healthy.

You can be fit and be unhealthy. You can be so obsessed with your body that you’re failing to focus on relationships that matter and that’s unhealthy. You can consume 1500 calories a day and be unhealthy. You can run a half marathon but live on wine and chocolate. That’s not healthy (its awesome if you can do that, but not healthy). You can be a size 4 but be very unhealthy. Health is about longevity. It is about lengthening your life. It is not about being skinny. It isn’t about running faster or farther. And that’s one of the main reasons I love Juice Plus+. They are passionate about helping people get healthy. Not fit. Healthy.  They want to lengthen lives. Prevent cancer. Prevent heart disease. Prevent strokes. And they realize that those things have more to do with what we fuel our bodies with than the number on the scale. They want to help you eat right, not so you can get smaller and run faster (although hallelujah if those things happen in the process). They want to help you eat right so you can instill a healthy mindset in your children. So you can be around to watch your grandchildren grow. So you can change the quality of life for our generation and the generation to come.

If you’re interested in joining the Juice Plus+ team and spreading a healthy message in your world, learning more about the product/company or finding out how your child can get it for free, I would love to hear from you. You can purchase Juice Plus+ by clicking here or contact me for more information! I know so many of you are fitness freaks (its why we’re friends) and I would love to partner with you in spreading a healthy message to our world!

One final note: I endorse very few products on this blog. If you go back and read previous posts, I think you can count on 1 hand posts that have been sponsored by a company. I have turned down opportunities to work with companies over and over again because I don’t ever want CnC to turn into a string of food/fitness advertisements. When you come to this site I want you to read something genuine. So, as I tell you about this company/product I hope you know that I care about what you read on this site and this is something I’m convinced would benefit you and your loved ones. It is something I couldn’t help but share. I want to challenge you to run. I want to encourage you to workout. I hope I inspire you to be fit. But more importantly, I hope CnC motivates you to pursue a healthy life.

P.S. My husband just walked into the living room with a Juice Plus+ shake mix as opposed to a beer. He said he was in the mood for dessert so a JP shake sounded better. The stuff contains quinoa, pumpkin, chickpea powder and alfalfa sprouts among other things. Proof that JP has changed my husband.

    • Jan, Juice Plus actually has a huge team in Australia! In fact, I’m pretty sure some Australian Olympic Athletes take the product and are big advocates of it! If you want more information, let me know! 🙂

  1. Juice Plus is awesome! My family has benefitted for about 6 years! It’s in 23 countries &, Jan, it’s huge in Australia! I’m so excited to read your post, Ashley!

    • I think the neatest thing about your family is that with 4 kids you guys haven’t seen a doctor for any illness in over 3 years. That’s truly amazing considering kids sort of breed germs. haha! I think it is a testament to JP and your whole food diet that you guys all stay so healthy.

Here’s hoping I can keep Atlas as healthy! 🙂

  2. I love juice plus. I’m not into fitness at the level you are but I do care about my health. It has made a world of difference for me. I feel better and I get free JP to give to my granddaughter. It’s a win win. I’ve been taking JP for over a year and can feel the difference. Love it!

  3. I’ve never heard of this company, but it sounds like something I need to try. I definitely don’t get as many veggies as I should and the ones I do eat are the same every day. I don’t like veggies too much so the ones I like I stick to!

    • I’m the same way, Heather! I eat what I like & its really rare I venture out and try new things…and while there are a lot of veggies I truly love to eat there are also quiet a few I really despise. Juice Plus is a great way to bridge that gap! I would love for you to check it out! 🙂 Please let me know if you have any questions! I think part of the reason I’ve been able to recover so fast from my pregnancy and dive back into running is because I’ve been combining a healthier diet with Juice Plus. I feel more energized on my runs these days.

    • I love the gummies – I take them like candy!

And I’m telling you – Dave has surprised me over this last year. He’s always been fit and he’s kept away from ‘unhealthy’ foods for the most part (we both enjoy all kinds of ‘cheat’ food on the weekends), but he’s been very limited with his veggie intake until recently!

P.S. Our Doterra came in the mail a few days ago. We got the wrong one (we didn’t get the breathe so we’re going to order that soon) but I love the one we got. It smells SO clean and Atlas seems to love it. 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation!

  4. Wow!! This is so great! My friend just gave me some of these to try!! Must have them!!

  5. I have heard great things about Juice Plus and done some research on it. I think you just sealed the deal for me! I also love, love, love your take on health and fitness – I could not agree more!

    • So glad you’re going to give Juice Plus a try, Amanda! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions! 🙂
