Life can change so quick. On Monday morning, I had one of the better days I’ve had in a long time. I was still living on the runner’s high from my Rock n Roll Half Marathon and life was really good. On Monday afternoon I got sucker punched by life. This blog centers around food & fitness, but unfortunately I haven’t worked out this week and I haven’t eaten a real meal since Monday morning. Since I don’t have a workout or recipe for you, I wanted to take this time to do something a little different on the ole’ blog.

I want to challenge you…not to workout harder…not to put spinach in your smoothies…not to run a half marathon, but to live bigger than the things that threaten to overwhelm you. Practice unconditional love with those who need it most, even though those who truly need it are often the hardest to love. Feel the magnificent depth of your purpose and make a difference in your life…in someone else’s life. Do the right thing, even when the right thing is costly.

We don’t truly win by winning all the trivial fights that so often consume us. We win by rising above them.

This week, I got some bad news and that news changed some aspects of my life. But you know what it didn’t change? It didn’t change how blessed I am. I’m still blessed to have a family that is only a phone call away…

I’m blessed to have these kids in my life, whose faces bring a smile to mine…

Blessed to have a best friend that listens and provides constant laughter…

I’m blessed to have a home that I love…

Blessed with good health and the ability to run…

And of course, I’m blessed to have the best running partner in all the world. Blessed to have a dog who doesn’t leave my side. Blessed to have a companion that reminds me of the definition of loyalty each day.

And I’m blessed to have YOU…whoever you are…thanks for reading!

Life can change so fast, for the good and for the bad. Next time life throws you a curve ball, rise above what threatens to overwhelm you & don’t forget to count your blessings (It really does help). 🙂

I promise – normal workouts/eating patterns will resume shortly.
