Happy Birthday to Marley and Ob

August is a pretty great month if you ask me,

Today Marley turns 5 and next week Ob turns 3.

This poem is dedicated to our pets,

The greatest canines I’ve ever met.

Marley, we haven’t been together right from the start,

But as it turns out, you were a missing piece in my heart.

I think I can speak for your dad and Ob too,

You’re our favorite lab and ‘buddy roo.’

There have been times when you rolled in mud or a dead frog,

And I think you’re living up to your name and are the world’s worst dog.

But then you look up and give me that smile so proud,

And I think I would pick you over any dog in any crowd.

Spending the last 2 years with you has been a delight,

Despite the raucous caused when you and Ob fight.

You’ve added to my life so much joy,

My lizard hunter, swimmer and favorite fur boy!

Ob, you came into my life at the perfect time,

You were an investment, but worth every dime.

The last 3 years have been a wild and crazy ride,

But you were the one companion who never left my side.

You can be a bit of a handful – I’ll never forget that pillow disaster,

However, it is because of you that your dad and I run faster.

You’re a needy little thing and a drama queen no doubt,

You are the first and only dog I’ve ever seen pout.

You’re definitely a velcro dog – this is widely known,

I don’t even remember the last time I peed alone.

But, you make us all smile and you make us all laugh,

Little did I know 3 years ago, I was investing into my other half.

So, Marley and Ob for you guys we raise our paws,

Let’s go out and party and ignore those stupid leash laws.

For your birthday, you can bark at squirrels until you lose your voices

Just don’t forget what I always tell you…”Make good choices!”
