It is what it is
Tomorrow I run my 15th half marathon. I picked up my race packet, so I already have the t-shirt to prove it. I’m tempted to not run and just wear the shirt.
I’m actually pretty nervous for this race. I have only trained up to 8 miles, and I usually train up to 10 or 11. Unfortunately,
the heat life just got in the way of a few of those long runs. But, it is what it is, right? I did find out tonight that my sister, Michelle, is running the race. Color me ecstatic! I was originally planning on doing the race alone, but now we are riding together and I’m so incredibly thankful to have someone there to motivate me and push me to the finish! I get to spend 13.1 miles with this lovely lady tomorrow…
In recent years, I’ve typically finished my half marathons in under 2 hours (my last half time was a 1:52), but I have no time goal for tomorrow’s race due to my lack of training. I’m not a fast runner, but I usually like to go for a time that is fast for me. However, I’m really hoping to just use tomorrow as a good long run for my other 2 upcoming races. I plan on stopping at water stations when needed and enjoying the course and the positive energy of those around me. I was tempted to skip this race, since I don’t feel as prepared as I would like (& I already have the t-shirt), but then I thought…even if I don’t make it in under 2 hours, I will still complete 13.1 miles (assuming I don’t die at mile 9 – knock on wood). That’s a huge accomplishment, no matter what.
See you tomorrow, after the race! Wish me luck…Lord knows I’m going to need it! Does someone want to come stand at the finish line with Ob and a new pair of Tory Burch boots for me? Now, that would be super motivating.
