My Favorite 5 – Hair Edition

Continuing with the Favorite 5 series, I’m chatting about my favorite hair products today. I am certainly not a hair stylist, but I always get so excited when I find a product that actually works for me. I would love to know what hair products you swear by, so tell me about them in the comments below.

Oh! And there’s a new giveaway with today’s post, so keep on reading! 🙂

GHD Hair Dryer

GHD Blowdryer

Ugh. I kind of hate listing this one because it is so pricey, but you guys! It really is the best hair dryer. When my last blow dryer died (more like blew up) I bought this one and when Dave realized how much it cost, he was a little bit upset with me (as he should have been – I’m crazy). But, I told him all of the research I did (something he taught me to do….so, you know #hisfault) pointed to this blow dryer! And the reviews were right – this thing is the jam! My hair drys smoother and faster. My mom came to visit us and she used it and I didn’t even mention anything about how nice it was and after she got done doing her hair she came in the room and was like, “Oh my gosh! I need that blow dryer! What is that thing?” It is definitely a splurge, but if I’m talking favorite hair products today, I just can’t leave this one out.

GHD Curling Iron

GHD Curling Iron

Okay, so this is kind of like the above product. It is pricey, but it is amazing! AMAZING, I tell you. I’ve tried a lot of curling irons and this GHD curling iron beats them all! My hair doesn’t usually hold curl that well, but with this curling iron, I can curl it and it will stay for 3 days! 3 DAYS, ya’ll! And I don’t use one ounce of hairspray (I think hairspray makes my face breakout). My mom has the GHD flatiron and she swears by it too – I used it last week when I was with her and it is amazing and now I kind of want that too, even though I rarely wear my hair straight anymore….but, seriously – I just don’t think you can go wrong with GHD products. I’ve actually been eying this curling wand because every beauty blogger on the planet swears by it, but I just can’t imagine anything better than the GHD curling iron because it is that good..and I think it would be even better if I actually knew what I was doing…but I don’t really know how to do hair. I just try to make it look like the pictures I see on Pinterest and this GHD curling iron gets me as close as I’m probably ever going to get, considering my amateur efforts. #realtalk

L’Incroyable Blowdry Miracle Reshapable Heat Lotion by Kerastase

L'Incroyable Blowdry Spray

This product is new to my arsenal, but it has quickly claimed a spot as one of my favorite hair products. After reading so many rave reviews about it, I decided to give it a try and it has lived up to the hype. If you don’t wash your hair everyday and don’t like adding a bunch of product to your hair, then I think you will really like this product. It allows you to style and re-style your hair without adding more product to your hair – you just need heat. So, when you use a curling iron or straightener or blowdryer this magical wax (←my term, not Kerastase’s) in the product activates and allows you to reshape your hair so easily. I was shocked at how smooth my hair was after using this product. I used it one day, then the next day I worked out, didn’t wash my hair, took it out of it’s ratty pony tail and ran the blow dryer over it to dry the sweat (I know, so gross), took my GHD curling iron to it and voila! My hair looked super fresh. I was shocked because typically the second day post wash, my hair is a little frizzy and flat (most likely because I workout/run). I have loved almost every product I’ve ever tried by Kerastase, but this one might just be my very favorite.

Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo

The Best Dry Shampoo

I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoo, but the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo (I use the dark tone) is definitely my favorite. I’ve recently tried the Drybar’s dry shampoo and Sally Hershberger’s 24K dry shampoo and both left my hair feeling a bit too dry. This dry shampoo by Moroccan Oil smells fabulous (like all their products) and it absorbs some of the oil/sweat in my hair without over-drying it.

Texture Expert Lift Extreme by L’Oreal Paris

The Best Mousse

I love using this mousse on the roots of my hair (I apply it before I blow-dry) to add some lift and volume. I’m actually currently out of this product and I can always tell if I really love a product if I really miss it when I run out. I’ve bought this product multiple times and I keep going back for it because it works and I notice a difference when I don’t use it. I have a lot of hair, but it is fine and it falls pretty flat and this product helps provide some volume that stays for a few days. This mousse isn’t sticky or heavy and it smells great.

Today I’m giving away the Kerastase L’Incroyable miracle heat lotion to one reader, as a thank you for supporting Cupcakes n Crunches. 🙂

To enter the giveaway, simply comment on this post and tell me what your favorite hair product is! 🙂 For a double entry, leave a comment on my Instagram under the picture that corresponds with this post, tagging a friend who you know loves all the girly things. That’s it!

The winner will be announced on Friday’s post.

Your turn! Favorite hair product….and go!

  1. My fav hair product right now is nexxus shampoo/conditioner.

    • I’ve tried Nexxus products and I love them too! 🙂

  2. My fave is Caviar by Alterna moisture shampoo and volume conditioner. It’s a great combo. I’m also a fan of Loreal’s mythic oil for when I’m going curly or straight.

    • Oh my goodness – Alterna used to make my very favorite shampoo, but then they stopped making it! I love their products, but I’ve only tried one product from the Caviar line.

    • My girlfriend uses Herbal Essence and she swears by it & I always comment on how good her hair smells! LOL

  3. I love my CHI hair straightener – cannot live without that thing!

  4. Dry shampoo is a must in my hectic life. I’ve tried many brands but always seem to come back to Batiste. It’s cheap and I love the way it smells!

    • Yes – I love Batiste! Confession: I first tried it because I loved the leopard packaging it came in. LOL
I actually liked it so much, I’m pretty sure I’ve blogged about it on here before!

  5. It’s a 10 Miracle leave in spray. The BEST!!
Ps- love your blog! Glad to see you’re doing well!

    • Thanks, Ericka! 🙂 and I’m definitely going to try that leave in spray!

  6. One of my favorites is the Bamboo Kendi Dry Oil Mist. I use it after I blow dry and it gets rid of frizz. Wonderful product for curly and frizzy hair. Hoping Derek has the Kerastase product on your blog when I go see him. You can’t go wrong with any of their products. And I do love all the GHD products. Amazing.

    • Oh! I forgot to add Derek to this list! My favorite hairdresser should have been #1! Haha

And when did you get that oil mist? Was that a purchase from the highlands NC trip? I think I remember you telling me about it.

  7. I love John Freida’s ‘Secret Weapon’. It tames my frizzy, curly hair without making it sticky…AND it’s only $6! I also love Herbal Essence leave in conditioner. If I’m going to be home all day, I put it in my wet hair, twist it in a bun and leave it until bedtime. The next morning my hair is crazy soft.

    • I sometimes put conditioner in my hair at night & sleep in it! Have you tried coconut oil in your hair? It also makes it SO soft, but it is hard to get it out. You have to seriously rinse it or it weighs your hair down but it does make your hair so so soft!

  8. Dry shampoo is my lifesaver most days!! I am currently trying out different brands to find a winner so any suggestions would be great : )
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    • Definitely check out the Moroccan oil dry shampoo! And Batiste is good too and not quite as expensive. 🙂

  9. So I missed checking in yesterday but had to laugh because when I was growing up the only choice we had was Psssssst -which you probably have never heard of!! I didn’t even know they still made dry shampoo (that is how out of the loop I have been- I am counting on your blog to help me in that area lol) thanks for your tips!!

  10. Aveda dry shampoo.

    • I just got an Aveda leave-in treatment in the mail to try and I used it today for the first time and I’m obsessed with the way it smells!

  11. I have been wanting to try that dry shampoo! I like my Batiste dry shampoo okay but I’m always looking to see what others love!

  12. Love biologe shampoo and conditioner. smells so good and makes me feel like I just left the salon after each use.

  13. I love my T3 hair dryer – so light and dries my super thick hair in a flash!
