Summer 2013

Whoops. I did it again. I fell off the face of the earth. It has been such a crazy busy summer and unfortunately my life’s mantra has been “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” (If that doesn’t make sense to you, google it. It will most likely become your life’s mantra too).

Let’s do a quick recap of what happened this summer while I wasn’t blogging, shall we?

The highlight of my summer was marrying Dave.

That’s right. I’m a Mrs. now!

We got hitched and then we escaped the stresses of everyday life for a while and stayed in the most adorable cottage at the Palmetto Bluff Inn in South Carolina. The ceremony was intimate and very much us (no photos of that were taken) and the honeymoon was romantic, beautiful and relaxing. Dave surprised me and had a photographer come out and snap some family photos of us, which you can see above. And yes…Ob and Marley did accompany us on our honeymoon. We couldn’t justify leaving them behind because they didn’t get to see Dave a whole lot this summer and we wanted the whole famdamily to have time together…

….which brings me to my next update…

I mentioned in a previous post that Dave and I were experiencing some career changes. In May, Dave moved to New York City for a new job. I couldn’t talk about it on the blog until my employer knew, so we had to keep it under wraps. Dave and I spent most of the summer living apart.  He got hooked up with corporate housing and I continued working in Florida while living with my mom. We were so blessed by his new employer and my mom who provided wonderful summer homes for us. We were able to save some money and figure out where exactly we wanted to live in the Big Apple.

….2.5 months + several trips up to NYC later….

Dave, Marley, Ob & I said our goodbyes to family and friends in Florida, climbed into a Uhaul (after selling most of our belongings) and drove for 2 days to our new home on the Upper West Side in Manhattan.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant, but Marley & Ob didn’t let that stop them from cuddling up next to my baby bump for most of the 14 hour trip.

This is our first week living together in the city and we are working to get settled into our new apartment (read: there are still boxes to unpack) and NYC life. I really like our new area. We live 1 block from Trader Joes. The only thing that could be better would be if I lived inside Trader Joes.  Seriously – love that store. We are also sandwiched between Central Park and Riverside Park and I’m having fun exploring both.

So, that’s about it. Got married. Went on a honeymoon. Moved to NYC. Approximately 7 weeks away from having a baby boy. How’s that for a life changing summer?

I’m excited to start blogging about our NYC adventures and parenting experiences…and eventually my workouts again….and cookies. FYI: You’ll probably read about baked goods on this blog before you read about burpees. It is easier to consume a cookie than it is to do a burpee when you’re 8+ months pregnant.

And with that, I’m off to make dinner. Just kidding. Ain’t nobody got time for that. We’re ordering in. Welcome to NYC, right?
