The Liebster Award

Yesterday I was nominated for a Liebster Award by Kate@QuarterCenturySouthernLiving. I hopped on her website last night to read her latest post and I was so excited when I saw she asked me to participate in the Liebster survey! I love reading surveys on other blogs and this is the first time I’ve been asked to fill one out! Thanks, Kate! 🙂

1. What is your dream job?

I would love to be a writer someday. I currently write training materials for a large company, but I often dream about writing fiction books (chick lit – nothing mind-blowing), children’s books (about the adventures of OB and Marley, of course) and developing articles for some of my favorite publications (Shape Magazine, Southern Living, Women’s Health, etc).

In addition, I also dream about being a news anchor on the Today show or having Kelly Ripa’s job (& abs). Obviously, I have a better chance at the writing career. Not because I’m an excellent writer, but because I love ice cream way too much to get Kelly Ripa’s abs.

2. What is your happy place?

I have a few happy places. Obviously, having my head inside a bowl filled with cookie dough is a very happy place for me.

I love that feeling I get when I am in the running groove – when my body is moving in a good rhythm, my legs and lungs feel great and I’m lost in thought and good music.

I also love getting into bed at night and being sandwiched in between Ob & Dave and listening to the sound of Marley snoring by my feet. It can get slightly warm, but I go to bed with a smile on my face. My bed may be crowded and my house may be crazy, but my home is a total happy place!

Happy Place

And I always love getting a mani/pedi with my mom because I’m guaranteed to laugh hysterically. We share the same sense of humor and just about anytime spent with her is happy.

3. If you could travel somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?

Oh heavens…Napa Valley. Greece. But probably not in that order.

4. What is your all time favorite movie?

I seriously can’t stop watching Pitch Perfect. It is hilarious!

But, I think Sweet Home Alabama reigns supreme!

In all honesty, I don’t watch a lot of movies. Actually – let me take that back. I don’t watch the endings to a lot of movies. I fall asleep anytime a movie is started after 6pm.

5. Why did you start blogging?

I love writing and I wanted a creative outlet, since my job doesn’t give me a lot of ‘play room’ with my writing style. I also love encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle and I thought a blog would be a good avenue to motivate my friends and family to make healthy decisions. Sharing workouts and recipes is quickly turning into a passion for me!

6. What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday?

I love being outside, so my ideal Saturday includes a great run (duh) and a fun outdoor activity. I recently moved to the beach, so I love spending weekends by the ocean or by my pool. My perfect Saturday would end with a delicious dinner out before I came home and curled up with a captivating book (←nerd alert).

Perfect Saturday

7.  What is one goal you have that you have yet to accomplish?

I would like to run a marathon. Maybe. Don’t quote me on that.

I would like to go to NYC on Thanksgiving to see the Macy’s Day Parade, but that is probably more of a bucket list item than a goal.

8. What is your favorite quote?

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3:21-23

It isn’t really a quote…it is a verse…but I find a lot of comfort in it.

I also like saying “I love ya more than my luggage” which is from the movie Steel Magnolias. Now, that is a hilarious movie! Add this to Question 4.

9. What is your favorite holiday and why?

Christmas. I love the family time, holiday parties, decorations, Christmas cookies and gifts. I think I will love this holiday even more when I have children of my own to bring some of the ‘magic’ back into it.

10. What was the best part of your day?

Dave left to go out of town today (he’ll be back tomorrow), but being the sweet guy he is, he left me a surprise to come home to tonight. Walking through the door and getting attacked with puppy kisses from Ob & Marley and seeing his gift instantly brightened my day.

sweet surprise

11. What is your all time favorite book?

I’m a nerd and I read all.the.time so this is a really tough one for me. After much deliberation, I’ve narrowed it down to 3 4 5 books, in no particular order.

The Help

The Mountain Between Us

The Tipping Point

Unbroken

Something Borrowed

I will be passing on the love later this week and nominating some other bloggers for the prestigious Liebster Award!

In the meantime, pick one of these questions to answer in the comments section of this post. I want to know more about you!

P.S. If you think about it, please say a little prayer for my dad and stepmom this week. My dad had surgery tonight and we’re hoping and praying for a fast recovery!
