The Love Bug

I woke up before my alarm went off this morning feeling well rested. I tried to go back to sleep since I wasn’t planning on working out, but I couldn’t get comfortable and I felt ready to start my day. I decided to take advantage of my rejuvenated state and tackle a workout since I most likely won’t be sweating it out tomorrow due to a full calendar.

Since I’m no longer training for any half marathons, I thought I would use today’s workout to try and burn out my legs.

I Love legs circuit

I strive to take it easy on my legs during my circuit workouts while I’m training for races. I have a very scientific reason for this: running 10 miles after doing a million squats sucks. I’m just not that hardcore. However, I love intense leg workouts when I don’t intend on logging a lot of miles during the week. Today’s workout wasn’t crazy hard for me, but starting off with 100 squats definitely woke my legs up and my booty is feeling it tonight. I used 10 pound weights and a 25 pound kettle bell for most of the exercises.

After my circuit workout, I showered and got ready to head out for my workday. I didn’t realize it until after I was dressed, but I looked like Cruella De Vil today because I was decked out in all sorts of animal prints.

Cruella De Vil

Pardon the make-up less face. I don’t wear make-up to work ever on Wednesdays.

I promise no animals were harmed in the making of my outfit. Well…maybe not the purse? That snake skin bag was expensive. That may be real. But that’s okay. A snake bit Ob a few months ago and cost me a fortune in vet bills and the trauma of the event took about 5 years off my life, so we can just call it even.

I recently cleaned out my closet and as I was going through everything I’ve ever owned (I might be a packrat), I found some gems that I forgot I even had. One of those gems was this bracelet, which I wore today…

I love you bracelet

The center stone flips over and on one side it says “I love you” and on the other side it says “I hate you.” I don’t know why, but I think this bracelet is hilarious. And it is actually really pretty. It is a fun stackable bracelet that pairs nicely with others and it is a great way to send a subliminal message to those you love…or hate.

I think I got bit by the love bug. I used a heart in the above circuit workout photo (compliments of Pic Monkey). I wore an “I love you” bracelet today. And tonight after work, Dave & took Ob & Marley on a 2 mile walk and we began discussing Valentines Day plans. Do you guys have any special traditions you take part in on February 14th with your significant other? We are thinking of taking a trip that weekend, but we’re on the fence. Give us ideas! Places to go? Things you do (please, keep it PG)? I love hearing how other people celebrate holidays.ย Honestly – I don’t consider Valentines Day a major holiday. I think last year, Dave & I stayed in & cooked because we didn’t want to fight the crowds at a restaurant. I don’t even remember. All I recall is getting cookies from Dave that said “I Love you, Ashley.” That’s 14 cookies for those of you who aren’t good at math. Freakin’ awesome gift. As long as I get a baked good from someone, I’m a happy camper.

Happy hump day, pals!

  1. Love your outfit, so cute! I am not sure that Dan knows when Valentine’s Day is, kidding, kind of ๐Ÿ™‚ We did not do anything to celebrate last year. I did see that the movie Safe Haven is coming out on Valentine’s Day this year and I was a big fan of the book, so I would love to see it!

  2. that bracelet is so cute! โ™ฅ i’ve been single for what is basically approaching eternity lol so on valentine’s day i always get a full mani/pedi, buy wine that doesn’t come in a box and just spoil myself ๐Ÿ™‚ ..my tradition is getting a little expensive (each year i buy myself more stuff haha) so hopefully next year i’ll break the streak! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jessica – I think your Valentines Day plans take the cake. That sounds like an awesome day!

  3. Whoa. 100 squats? Never.

We usually make a special dinner at home on V-day…I feel too afraid to go out, because I’m scared that the restaurants will be too crowded. I’ve never tested this theory though, because I’ve never been to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • haha, I’m not sure I’ve actually ever been out on Valentines Day either. I just assume they are crowded…maybe we’re wrong and everyone is actually staying in like us?

    • Thank you so much! I actually got that scarf online at Banana Republic. It was on sale so I couldn’t pass it up! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I’m usually pretty tired in the mornings too, Alex! But I love getting my workouts done before the day starts!

  4. Nice circuit, I am the same way with legs. I do my long runs Sunday so the the only day I will consider beating my legs up a little (aside from running) is Monday. I ended up doing a lot of wall balls, box jumps, and dead lifts yesterday so I am hoping the sore is gone soon! It will make today’s pace run interesting for sure…

    • Box jumps and wall balls are no joke, Megan! You’re an animal! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope your run went good!
