Weekend Recap – Valentines Day

This weekend was filled with lots o’ work. Dave didn’t get home from work until 10pm Friday and then he had to turn around and head right back out to work some more on Saturday (This is his busy season). Atlas, Andi & I held down the fort while he was gone.

I initially had plans for the kids and I to live it up in Brooklyn Bridge Park Saturday while Dave worked, but quickly scratched that plan when I checked the weather. It was freezing cold this weekend in NYC. We’re talking record-lows-your-snot-instantly-freezes-and-the-air-hurts-your-face-kind-of-cold.

So instead, we stayed home & turned Andi’s crib into a ball pit (←super fun to clean that up), read books, watched movies, searched for Waldo (our love for Waldo is still strong), got groceries and looked forward to Dave coming home and warmer weather.

I also snuck in a 5 mile {treadmill} run before Dave left for work Saturday to keep me sane.

Sunday I woke up and made a special Valentine’s Day breakfast for my boys. I say ‘special’ but really our little tradition is to make a big breakfast every Sunday, so it wasn’t all that different. Big breakfast Sunday is just our thang lately. I made cinnamon rolls (topped with sprinkles because Atlas is obsessed), bacon and pigs in a blanket. We opened our Valentine’s Day gifts while we ate breakfast. My husband knows me so well. ♥

Valentines Gift

Anything from HB is always a hit in my book. Seriously – my favorite store in NYC!

The rest of the day was spent playing with the kids, cleaning the house and doing laundry. Besides a few little gifts with our breakfast, the only other festive part of our Valentines Day was my red shirt and pink lipstick and Andi’s pink bow. We clearly went all out, right? 😉

My Little Valentine

I did make a kid’s trail mix for Atlas and it was a hit! He kept asking for more all day. I just combined teddy grahams, golden grahams, marshmallows and milk chocolate chips.

It was by no means healthy, but Atlas loved it for a special Valentines Day snack. And of course I sampled several handfuls of it myself for quality control purposes.

And just like that, our weekend was over. Why must weekends be so short?

I’m actually excited for this week though. We have a few exciting projects on the agenda that I’m ready to tackle and get behind us.

I hope you had a special weekend surrounded by those you love and here’s hoping we all have a productive work week that flies by!

  1. Yum! That trail mix sounds delicious, it reminds me of one we had when I was a kid during our parties at school!

  2. Love the pictures. The kids looked like they had a great indoors. Being creative on cold days with kids is a gift. Love your pink lipstick and wondering what is in the HB box. Dave did good whatever it is! 😀 Miss you all!
