Happy Monday, friends!
On Saturday morning, Dave & I headed out to grab breakfast at the very popular, Levain Bakery.
Levain Bakery is a hotspot on the Upper Westside of Manhattan and I was itching to try it. Neighbors told us about it and after googling it I learned that guests such as Kelly Ripa and Tyler Perry have frequented the local spot. When I read that their cinnamon rolls had even been featured on Oprah I was sold. I practically pranced there, but was disappointed when I arrived and realized their cinnamon rolls didn’t involve cream cheese frosting. I opted for a cinnamon roll with walnuts (the other option was a cinnamon roll with raisins and I’m a firm believer that raisins have their place in this world and it isn’t in cinnamon rolls) and was even more disappointed when I tasted it and it was incredibly dry. I didn’t try the cookies at the bakery, which is another thing they are known for but I doubt we will go back. We were underwhelmed. Moral of the story? Don’t believe everything you see on Oprah.
The morning wasn’t a total bust though. Dave got breakfast from Starbucks after deciding Levain’s wasn’t for him and we took it to the park where we had a lovely picnic.
Clearly, the dogs wanted in on his breakfast. After we finished eating, we spent over 2 hours exploring Central Park and agreed we could walk the park every day for a year and still not find all the hidden gems inside. There are so many trails and paths to follow!
We also spent some time exploring the city streets. *Please ignore the sweat coming from me in the below photo – walking for hours while pregnant in the summer doesn’t quite leave me with a glow*
I’m so proud of how great Ob & Marley are doing in the chaos of the city. Ob especially gets anxious around a lot of people, but she’s adjusting well to the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. They’ve both had a few freak outs, but overall they are doing so wonderful! I’m a proud momma!
After our morning walk it was time for some shopping! We caught a train over to 5th Ave where we had a blast perusing FAO Schwartz toy store.
I spent about 45 minutes in the candy section losing my mind over the giant selection of sugary goods on hand. Dave and I each filled a bag full of sweet and sour candy. I loaded up on candy corn (hello holidays!), watermelon gummy bears, sour gummy bears and a whole bunch of other stuff that I ate too fast to even recognize.
We wanted to leave with a giant stuffed dog that I’m pretty sure wouldn’t have fit into our apartment, but decided to go with the next best thing…a dog outfit for our baby boy. I cannot wait for this kid to get here so I can dress him up!
We spent the rest of Saturday doing baby stuff. We officially have this kid’s laundry done and his clothes are organized. I’m pretty sure he has more outfits than me and I’m a-okay with that. We also have his corner of our room almost finished.
Baby A will have a nautical nursery theme, so Dave hung 2 oars and an adorable sailboat mirror above his crib.
Saturday evening we enjoyed a lovely date night at a fabulous Italian restaurant, Pomodoros, but no photos were taken. Apparently, we prefer taking photos documenting armpit sweat rather than photos of us all clean and dressed up.
Sunday we enjoyed an afternoon movie (because I can’t stay awake for movies that start after 6pm) followed by copious amounts of guacamole.
The rest of the day/evening was spent walking Riverside Park and lounging around our apartment. Ob took full advantage of our lazy day and cuddled anyone who would let her.
That dog loves to cuddle. The baby bump…Marley…Dave…me…she’s not picky…she just loves the love.
Okay! Your turn! What did YOU do this weekend?
