What’s in a Name?

If you read the title of this post, you may be expecting the following content to be thought provoking and poetic.

If you’ve read this blog for any period of time, you know that’s not going to be the case though (although, I have written some birthday poems that some would say are worthy of a Nobel Prize*).

*Some = my mother (and she’s never actually said those exact words, but she’s suggested it in a roundabout imperceptible sort of way)

Sometimes I think I named my blog all wrong because there are days when I don’t write about food or fitness, even though those 2 things are always a part of my daily life.

There are days when I just enjoy blogging about life in general.

There was a time when I thought perhaps I should call this site “The Ob and Marley Show.”

IMG_1002And then we had Atlas and I thought this blog should be titled “Diaries of a frazzled mom.”

DSC_1498But then last night Dave brought home this cake pop for me…

DSC_1535And these too…

DSC_1539After devouring all that deliciousness like it was my job (which by the way, it sort of is – I’m still breastfeeding so mama’s got to eat), I did a Nike Training Club workout and this ab workout.

abworkoutI swear somewhere under the skin and frosting are abs of steel screaming to be seen.

Here are links to some of the exercises, in case you’re unfamiliar with them.

Dave just saw this on my screen and asked how many rounds I did. My response? “Um 1, fool.” That is 100 reps. But I guess you could do 2 or 3 rounds if you want to be an overachiever like Dave.

So, sometimes I think maybe I should change the name of this blog but then today I thought, “nah, better not.”ย โ† If you can name the movie that quote is from, you win the favorite reader award!

Cupcakes n Crunches still sums up a good portion of my life perfectly! ๐Ÿ™‚

Blogging pals – If you could rename your blog, what would you call it? If you don’t have a blog, what would you name one if you had it?ย

  1. Aren’t Nike Training Club workouts the best! I do Crossfit a few days a week as well as sprints and spin but I am so sore from a Nike workout I did the other day! They work your booty!

    • They are so great! Those jump wood chops keep making an appearance in my workouts and they are kicking my butt in the best way!

  2. I always think about how I should rename it. My main points are fitness and living life in moderation with some snacks. I don’t eat that many cookies lol contrary to popular belief, and I don’t really blog about baking recipes, ha. Should’ve thought some more I guess! For what it’s worth, I love your blog name! lol

    • Thanks, Heather! I love yours too! I think the content of your site supports your name – you are always giving readers new workouts, talking about your runs and of course, baked goods make an appearance from time to time! fit n cookies is perfect!

  3. Girl, let me tell you, Cupcakesn’Crunches totally takes the cake over Quarter Century Southern Living. My blog is like a sentence in and of itself, haha ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, we will most likely at some point move from the South (and maybe to the Northeast?!) and I am turning 27 this month! Blog names are funny because I really do reference y’all by them when I am talking to Dan!

    • I refer to you as “QC Southern Living.” I don’t ever say “Quarter Century” so it doesn’t seem that long in my mind. Does that make sense? Probably not. lol

And don’t leave the South for 2 very important reasons. 1) The northeast is flippin’ freeeeezing. 2) I love the ‘southern living’ aspect of your blog the most!

P.S. people up here in the northeast don’t share our love for country music. Take that into consideration if/when you think about moving. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Pitch perfect is probably in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. In fact (prepare yourself for an ultra nerd moment here) I was listening to the soundtrack on my way to work this morning.

To answer your other question, I used to have a blog called the Anti-Journalist that detailed my life post-journalism school and how I realized I actually hated being a journalist entirely. I let it go after a while but it was fun while it lasted!

    • Sarah! You made my night! I think you may be my soul mate. So glad you got the movie reference! And I have the pitch perfect soundtrack – I rock out to it at home and on my runs. It is one of my favorites! Dave even likes it (He would die if he knew I just put this out there for the world to see. ha).

And I wish you still had your blog – I would totally read that! It sounds so interesting – if I could go back and do it all over again I would major in journalism or creative writing so I would love to read your take on journalism.

  5. Would you believe that I have never thought about changing my blog name? Sure, I talk about all sorts of different things but in the end, all I am is a girl that likes to run and then eat cupcakes!! And obviously I am 1000% jealous of your cupcakes!!

    • I love your name! Don’t ever change it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. You will forever be Cupcakes ‘n Crunches to me <3 I feel like changing your blog name is almost like changing your identity in the blog world, lol! One of my favorites recently changed her name and I am still calling her by her prior blog's name. And next time Dave feels like bringing home cupcakes for dinner, ask him to pick up an extra one. I'll run to NYC for one of those ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • I agree, Becky – CnC feels like my identity. I think cupcakes n crunches is here to stay! Even though cupcakes don’t always make an appearance on the blog and I don’t do crunches everyday, it is still a good representation of some of my favorite aspects of life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. That is from Pitch Perfect! I laugh so hard every time I see that movieโ€ฆ.my husband thinks I am insane.

I Love your blog name!! I think it’s so fun. but I totally get thinking about doing a new oneโ€ฆ.I love my twitter/IG handles –FitnessPerks b/c it’s a play on my last name (perkins) and I am all about the fitness loveโ€ฆ..one day I will change my blog url!

    • Yeeessssss! Love that you got the Pitch Perfect reference. Can we just talk about how much Dave loves Pitch Perfect? Just another reason I love him. lol

Fitness Perks is such a great name – I love that it is a play on your name!

  8. Hahaha I always LOVE your speech bubbles for the doggies. So funny! And I think Cupcakes n’ Crunches is so fitting for you.. Even if you’re not specifically talking about those things, I think a lot of your blog is about balancing indulgences (or whatever you can find time to cram in your gullet) with fitness/healthy habits!

I have been wanting to change my blog name for a while now bc mine makes ZERO sense in relation to what I write about. It’s just a matter of taking the time to change it all up (Facebook, twitter, header/logo, etc etc)…
